'Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere' to open AFI Fest

AFI Fest’s 39th edition will open with Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film follows Bruce Springsteen in 1981–1982 as he records the album Nebraska. Jeremy Allen White portrays Springsteen. The 20th Century Studios production stars Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz. The film is based on Deliver Me From Nowhere by Warren Zanes and is directed by Scott Cooper. Cooper said Los Angeles played a profound role in shaping Springsteen’s artistic voice and thanked AFI for the privilege. Opening night is October 22; the festival runs through October 26. The film opens in theaters October 24. The Walt Disney Company is the parent of 20th Century Studios and this ABC station.
