The Sound of Music's child actors look back: Musicals about singing nuns no one was sure the public was going to buy it'

Yes, we're all identified forever as those characters. But it hasn't sent anybody's life off the rails. None of the seven became major movie stars off the back of starring in what was, at one point, the biggest box office hit of all time;"

The oldest living member of the seven-person Von Trapp youth ensemble is 75 and based in Sydney. Five of the original child actors are preparing a reunion to coincide with a 60th-anniversary 4K cinema rerelease; two members have died. The former child performers largely avoided the severe personal problems that sometimes affect child actors and remained close friends. None of the seven became major movie stars from the film; some continued steady acting careers while others pursued entirely different vocations. The group retains positive memories and ongoing camaraderie.
