""Alice Waters annoys the living [expletive] out of me," Bourdain said in a 2009 interview with DCist."
""There's something very Khmer Rouge about Alice Waters that has become unrealistic," he opined."
""I'm a little reluctant to admit that maybe Americans are too stupid to figure out that the food we're eating is killing us," Bourdain said."
Anthony Bourdain leveled sharp criticism at Alice Waters, accusing her of being out of touch and likening aspects of her approach to extreme authoritarianism. He objected to Waters’ efforts to push the U.S. government toward promoting healthier eating and called her outreach to political leaders distasteful, especially given voting behavior concerns. Bourdain criticized the perceived elitism and expense of organic lifestyles for many Americans while admitting to feeding his daughter organic food. Waters defended organic eating and argued it need not be expensive. Bourdain expressed internal conflict between agreement with some goals and rejection of perceived elitism.
