"Our goal is to honor the heritage of the building that's there."
"industrial and rustic"
"a lot of wood"
"high-quality Hawaiian restaurant."
Shelter Distillery will move into the space being vacated by StillWater Spirits and Sounds, which closes on Nov. 2. Shelter, founded in Mammoth in 2017 by Matt Hammer, Karl Anderson and Jason Senior, will operate its fourth location in Dana Point without onsite distilling. The venue will offer a full lineup of Shelter spirits, including whiskey, bourbon, agave spirits, vodka, liqueurs, rums, limoncello and an absinthe expression. The design will be industrial and rustic with a lot of wood and signature whiskey barrel lights, and the space will feature live music. Food will focus on locally sourced ingredients. StillWater co-owner Damian Collins will open Ohana Room, a high-quality Hawaiian restaurant, next to his Sunsets Bar in Capo Beach.
