It's Worth Fighting for a Reservation at This Award-Winning Valley Thai Restaurant
"For more than four decades, Anajak Thai has been a vital dining destination in the San Fernando Valley, attracting even the most quick-to-snub-the-Valley Angelenos for its refined takes on classic Thai dishes alongside an impressive wine slate. In 2019, chef Justin Pichetrungsi took the reins from his parents, revitalizing the menu and space over time and, in effect, transitioning the restaurant from a neighborhood mainstay into an industry darling."
"Anajak feels unpretentious but has a glow to it, literally (its neon sign bathes the sidewalk in warm light) and figuratively. Expect a pleasantly noisy environment if you sit inside - glasses clinking; low, warm light; and friends reaching to try each others' dishes. The vast outdoor patio, which wraps around into the adjacent alley, may be a better choice for more subdued conversation, and, with its white tablecloths, still feels special."
Anajak Thai has served the San Fernando Valley for more than forty years, known for refined takes on classic Thai cuisine and an extensive wine slate. Chef Justin Pichetrungsi assumed leadership in 2019, updating the menu and space and elevating the restaurant's profile. Signature offerings include mercilessly tender Massaman braised beef, highly craveable pad see ew with a white-pepper kick, and smoky pineapple-glazed pork ribs. The restaurant becomes a lively hub for Thai taco nights on Tuesdays and draws a diverse crowd. Indoor seating is pleasantly noisy while a large patio offers a quieter, still-special dining option.
