Papa Ole's Kitchen in Hauula on Oahu's North Shore will close permanently on Monday, Dec. 15 after 19 years of operation. The restaurant maintains a 4.5-star Yelp rating with about 1,500 reviews. Popular menu items include plate lunches and specialties such as peanut butter rolls, pulehu short ribs and garlic shrimp, roast pork with brown gravy, and hamburger steak with onions and sautéed mushrooms. Anticipation of the closure produced long lines and wait times exceeding an hour as locals and visitors seek farewell meals. Staff emphasized family, gratitude for community support, and efforts to serve as many customers as possible before closing.
