Lynchburg has been synonymous with Jack Daniel's since 1866, anchored by the distillery, a natural spring, and the Lincoln County charcoal mellowing process. Company Distilling formed in 2021 and already operates locations in Thompson's Station and Townsend. The company opened its third location in downtown Lynchburg in May 2025, four blocks from the Jack Daniel's Visitor's Center, on the former site of Lynchburg Winery and American Craft Distillers. The Lynchburg outpost aims to reach more than 300,000 annual visitors and offers cask-strength bourbon, single-barrel whiskeys, a lounge for mixed drinks, and space for workshops and events.

The nation's oldest registered distillery is located in a town of around 6,000 residents, many of whom work for the whiskey brand.
