Mitchells & Butlers, the parent company of Toby Carvery, has reported a 43% increase in sales, totaling £1.5 billion for the 28 weeks ending April 12. Despite facing challenges such as rising meat costs and increased national insurance contributions, the company remains optimistic. Chief executive Phil Urban noted that while some brands excel, all are performing well, highlighting the strength of Nicholson's and Sizzling Pubs. However, he acknowledged the struggles of the O'Neill's brand in the late-night market and discussed ongoing cost pressures with predicted inflation rises in 2026.
Chief executive Phil Urban stated, "It's been the case for the last two or three years that Nicholson's has led the way, closely followed by Sizzling Pubs, Vintage Inns, and Castle Pubs."
Urban emphasized, "We and the sector will raise prices every year, I don't think there's any shame in that. Our pricing in recent years has ranged between about 3% and 5%."
