We Asked: "Which Closed Bar or Restaurant Would You Bring Back?"
"What if you could bring your favorite, now-closed bar or restaurant back from the dead?"
"For One Last Shift, our brand new event series, we brought back two beloved New York spots: Fatty Crab, a West Village Malaysian restaurant that inspired a wave Southeast Asian cuisine in the city, and Nitecap, a Lower East Side disco-fever dream of a bar that's beloved by the industry."
"I would revive Prime Meats, which was in Carroll Gardens. It had the best salads, the best burgers, some of the best cocktails, and just like the greatest neighborhood restaurant ever. I miss the room and the experience." -Natasha David, author, bartender and creative director"
One Last Shift revived two beloved New York spots — Fatty Crab and Nitecap — for single-night events that recreated signature dishes, drinks, and teams. Fatty Crab is a West Village Malaysian restaurant credited with inspiring a wave of Southeast Asian cuisine in the city. Nitecap is a Lower East Side, disco-fever bar beloved by industry insiders. Collaboration with Square enabled the events to happen. Attendees were asked which closed bars and restaurants they would bring back for one night. Interviews were edited for length and clarity, and participants expressed strong nostalgia for neighborhood spots like Prime Meats.
