French prosecutors opened a criminal probe and arrested four men aged 26 to 38 over a suspected plot to kill, harm or abduct a Russian dissident living in France. The national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office launched an investigation and passed details to domestic intelligence services, later charging the suspects for suspected "terrorist association" with the aim of doing criminal harm. A source said the suspects were from Dagestan and one held French nationality. Three allegedly filmed images around the dissident's home in Biarritz. The dissident, leader of Gulagu.net, said he was safe and thanked counter-terrorism services. A 2022 probe found "no objective element" to earlier death threat claims.
