Charities need more donations as they brace for rising holiday demand
""With the collective involvement of the toy industry, we are able to reach more children than ever, but demand continues to outpace supply," Wright tells Axios."
""Every year, we witness incredible industry collaboration, and even small contributions add meaningful change.""
""We're telling nonprofits that we'd love for them to join the network - and we hope that we'll be able to get more people excited about holding coat drives and donating coats," president and CEO Beth Amodio tells Axios."
""the shock that the shutdown caused for neighbors needing food assistance and the food banks and agencies working to provide support," she says."
Salvation Army launched its annual Red Kettle Campaign on Thanksgiving and cannot yet report current fundraising totals. Increased requests for assistance and rising costs require surpassing last year's roughly $100 million to support 28 million Americans served. The Toy Foundation expects higher demand as industry involvement reaches more children while demand outpaces supply, and small contributions remain meaningful. One Warm Coat experienced nearly a 25% increase in nonprofit applications and now coordinates with about 1,900 agencies, up from 1,500, and is urging more coat drives and donations. Feeding America reports 95% of partner food banks saw equal or higher demand in October, marking the largest month-over-month increase since 2021.
