Chris Perkins: Dolphins TE Julian Hill is a man on a mission...to help kids
"I made a promise to them that I'll make sure we have good relationships,"
"So yeah, we have great relationships. We're friends. They're my homies."
"My mom, man, what she went through and what she was dealing with, she did a great job explaining, telling and just keeping me away from that,"
"No matter what she was going through on a daily, she kept me away from it."
Julian Hill, a 25-year-old Dolphins tight end, maintains close relationships with children at His House Children's Home near the Miami Gardens facility. He began visiting the center around Christmas and promised the children lasting connections. Hill experienced homelessness and unstable housing growing up in Fayetteville, N.C., while his biological mother struggled with drug use. He was later adopted by Shannon and Paul Schaeffer and expresses no hard feelings toward his birth mother. Hill sponsors at-risk children, paid for about 25 kids to attend a Dolphins game in Charlotte, and works with the Values Matter movement.
