Kerry writing festival celebrates community spirit with sustainable campaign - 'Local businesses play a huge role'

The Listowel Business and Community Alliance supports a sustainability initiative during Listowel Writers' Week by encouraging visitors to explore the town while supporting local businesses. Reusable cups and festival merchandise are available from the festival box office. Visitors who purchase and use a festival keep cup in participating cafés and businesses receive a complimentary gift from Alliance members, including handmade chocolates and specially selected bookmarks. The initiative reflects the long-standing connection between the festival and the local business community, where cafés, shops, pubs, and public spaces help shape the festival atmosphere. Conversations extend beyond formal events into streets and meeting places where writers, readers, and visitors connect throughout the day.
