Casio goes back to the '80s for its Back to the Future calculator watch
"It wasn't the first watchmaker to release a wristworn calculator, but by making them affordable, Casio's calculator watches became an icon of '80s technology. It was even the timepiece of choice for Back to the Future's Marty McFly, and as 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of that film's release, Casio is once again resurrecting one of its most popular calculator watch models and giving it a time machine makeover."
"Michael J. Fox's character actually wears a Casio CA-53W in those films with a plastic strap and case, but Casio's new CA-500WEBF-1A is based on a later model that swapped plastic for metal. The watch's functionality remains the same - including an 8-digit calculator, time and date capabilities, a stopwatch, and daily and hourly alarms - but it now incorporates design elements from Back to the Future 's time-traveling DeLorean."
Casio released the CA-500WEBF-1A, a metal-bodied calculator watch styled with Back to the Future DeLorean elements timed for the film's 40th anniversary. The watch preserves an 8-digit calculator, time and date displays, a stopwatch, and daily and hourly alarms. The keypad carries labels inspired by the DeLorean's time circuits and the case back is engraved with a flux capacitor. Preorders open October 21, 2025, and the watch is listed at $120 on the company's website. The product ships in packaging designed to resemble a VHS copy of the original movie.
