Google Meet launches an AI-powered makeup feature | TechCrunch
"Google Meet finally has an AI-powered makeup filter for those days when you don't feel like applying real makeup before a meeting. The new capability will help Google Meet compete with other video-conferencing apps that already have virtual makeup features, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Google Meet offers 12 different makeup options to choose from, which can be found in the "Appearance" section under "Portrait touch-up,""
"Notably, Google says that the virtual makeup will stay in place no matter how the user moves on-screen, making it seem more authentic. So, if a user takes a sip of coffee, the filter will stay on their face instead of shifting to the mug. Additionally, the feature will be disabled by default and can be activated by the user either before or during a video call. Once a makeup style is applied, Google Meet will remember your choices for future meetings."
Google Meet offers 12 AI-powered virtual makeup options accessible in the "Appearance" section under "Portrait touch-up." Portrait touch-up has provided complexion smoothing, under-eye lightening, and eye whitening since 2023. The virtual makeup tracks facial movement so styles remain aligned during gestures and actions, preventing the filter from shifting to objects like a mug. The feature is disabled by default and can be enabled before or during a video call. Once a makeup style is selected, Google Meet remembers the user's choices for future meetings. The rollout began on October 8 for mobile and web, aligning Meet with Teams and Zoom.
