"Nissan announced last month that it will be the first automaker in the US to offer wireless chargers with a magnetic mount, ensuring charging coils remain aligned for faster charging of mobile devices, even while a vehicle is in motion. The Wireless Power Consortium's Qi2 standard, which was finalized in late 2023, includes specifications on the use of magnets to help properly align the wireless coils in chargers and mobile devices."
"In the US, the 2026 Nissan Murano, and later the 2026 Pathfinder, will both feature Qi2-compatible wireless chargers in their center consoles with a raised magnetic mount. Power delivery maxes out at 15W - not the faster 25W rates available with Qi2.2 chargers - but Nissan includes an integrated cooling fan to reduce the risk of a phone shutting down due to overheating, and to improve charging efficiency."
Nissan will be the first US automaker to offer Qi2-compatible wireless chargers with a raised magnetic mount in the 2026 Murano and later the 2026 Pathfinder. The magnetic mount maintains alignment between charging coils and mobile devices for faster and more reliable charging while the vehicle is in motion. The chargers deliver up to 15W and include an integrated cooling fan to reduce overheating and improve charging efficiency. LEDs behind the charger glow orange while charging and switch to green when fully charged. The Qi2 standard finalized in late 2023 includes specifications for magnets to align chargers and devices, a concept popularized by Apple’s MagSafe and adopted by other manufacturers.
