"Core Devices is building the gadgets we want, (because) no one else is,"
"I'm not a Whoop guy,"
Eric Migicovsky founded Core Devices and demonstrated Pebble smartwatches and the Pebble Index smart ring during CES 2026 offsite meetings. The new watches use lo-fi e-paper screens in round and rectangular forms, physical push-button controls, geeky watch faces, long battery life, and an emphasis on hackability. The Pebble Index smart ring is built primarily to capture voice notes. Core Devices positions itself as a maker of fun but indispensable gadgets rather than mainstream fitness trackers. R&D funding followed Google open-sourcing the original Pebble operating system, and preorders are underway.
