This Asus Is the Cheap Laptop I Always Recommend. The Prime Day Price Is Below $250
"Chromebooks are a dime a dozen, but precious few of them are actually worth recommending. The Asus CX15 is a rare exception. It's one of the best Chromebooks you can buy, not only because it offers decent performance and battery life, but also because it's dirt cheap. And during Amazon's fall Prime Big Deals Day, it's down to its lowest price ever."
"You'll spend just $229 on it, which is 15 percent off its $270 list price, and nearly $80 cheaper than the laptop's peak price. When you're dealing with a Chromebook under $500 and closer to $250, there are some necessary compromises, and the CX15 isn't above them. The display isn't very bright, and the keyboard and trackpad need some work. But that price is hard to argue with."
"That extra 4 GB of memory is what makes the difference for the CX15. The Intel Core Celeron N4500 chip isn't the most powerful, but it's still enough for browsing and the lightweight, web-based apps available on Chromebooks. And although the screen isn't the brightest, it still comes with a 1080p resolution that looks sharp on the 15.6-inch display. If you're willing to spend a bit more, Asus also has the Chromebook Flip CX1 on sale."
The Asus CX15 delivers strong value by combining acceptable performance, solid battery life, and an 8 GB RAM configuration at a low price point. During Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day the CX15 drops to $229, a 15 percent discount and nearly $80 below its peak price. The 8 GB model provides noticeably better multitasking than 4 GB variants, improving browsing and web-app responsiveness. Trade-offs include a dim 1080p 15.6-inch display and subpar keyboard and trackpad. A slightly pricier alternative, the convertible Chromebook Flip CX1, shares the same specs with a 14-inch touchscreen and hinge for tablet use.
