OnePlus 13R is available at a reduced price of $490, featuring flagship-level performance, a larger battery, camera updates, and a strong processor. It showcases a sharp design with flatter sides, enhancing its appearance but potentially compromising comfort. The Astral Trail variant, with its etched glass rings, offers an elegant aesthetic compared to its less appealing black counterpart. The device maintains IP65 durability for water and dust, significantly less than its predecessor's rating. An increased price brings it above competitors like Google Pixel 9a, prompting users to consider alternatives.
The first thing I noticed when using the OnePlus 13R was its flatter sides, especially compared to the 12R. While this gives the phone a sharper, bolder look, it's not as comfortable to hold due to its edges.
This all comes with a $100 price hike -- bringing the once $500 model to $600 now -- positioning it well above the Google Pixel 9a.
The OnePlus 13R is rated IP65 for dust and water resistance, which is not as durable as the OnePlus 13's IP69 rating. Still, it handles splashes fairly well.
The Astral Trail (read: white) variant I tested stands out with etched glass rings, offering a stylish and elegant look. I recommend this model over the Nebula Noir variant.
