Google is rolling out an update to Google Play Services, labeled 25.14, which includes an important security feature for Android devices. If a phone is locked for three consecutive days, it will automatically restart, entering a state known as 'Before First Unlock'. This state ensures that the data on the device is encrypted, providing better security than the 'After First Unlock' state that occurs when the device is manually unlocked. This feature shares similarities with Apple's iOS 18.1 Inactivity Reboot but is currently limited to Android phones and tablets.
Once your Android phone receives the latest Google Play Services update, labeled 25.14, it will automatically restart if it has been locked for three consecutive days.
This is a security feature meant to take the phone into its 'Before First Unlock' state, where it will land after the auto-reboot.
