Amnesty International's latest report emphasizes a dire situation for universal human rights, reporting rising violence against civilians and minorities across various conflict zones. It identifies three major trends: escalating attacks on civilians, particularly in areas like Sudan and Ukraine; heightened risks for vulnerable groups such as LGBTQ+ individuals and refugees; and the failure of governments, notably the US, to uphold international human rights commitments. Agnes Callamard warns that the fabric of human rights is being undermined by various regressive forces, risking the achievements made post-World War Two.
"The US government is acting as an accelerant in this human rights crisis, putting billions of people worldwide at risk," said Duchrow.
"Unprecedented forces are hunting down the ideals of human rights for all, seeking to destroy an international system forged in the blood and grief of World War Two and its Holocaust," writes Agnes Callamard.
