Germany news: US Ebola patient's family to join him
An American doctor infected with Ebola has been flown to Berlin’s Charité hospital for specialist treatment. Germany’s Health Ministry announced that the patient’s immediate family will be allowed to enter Germany to join him, following a request from US authorities. The wife and three children will be brought to the special isolation ward at Charité. The doctor contracted the virus while working in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the epicenter of the latest outbreak. It is not clear whether the relatives, who were also in the DRC, are showing symptoms. The isolation ward is a contained area isolated from the rest of the clinic and is experienced in handling Ebola cases.
