The Gold House Gala gathers Asian Pacific American luminaries to honor their contributions. At this year's event, John Chu and the cast of "Moana 2" were acknowledged for their impact on cultural narratives. The event highlights the growing presence of Pacific Islander talent, as expressed by Auli'i Cravalho. Judging the A-100 list is challenging but rewarding, emphasizing continual discovery of new talent. The gala featured various notable figures, including Mindy Kaling and Daniel Dae Kim, celebrating significant movies and achievements that shaped AAPI representation in media.
"This is my family. We've known each other for so long. There's so many people here, so to see it grow to this level is amazing," said Chu.
"I see more and more Pacific Islander talent every year that I attend, and it makes my heart so happy," said Kravalho.
"Every year you think you're covering everybody, but it's not the case. You find new outstanding people that deserve recognition," said ABC7's David Ono.
"It's an iconic movie, it follows in the footsteps of Bruce Lee," said Kim.
