Warriors coach Steve Kerr publicly supported Harvard University by wearing a Harvard T-shirt after their game against the Grizzlies. This act came after Harvard's president announced the university would not comply with President Trump's demands to alter its policies, including expelling pro-Palestinian students and ceasing its DEI programs. Kerr, a friend of Harvard's coach, expressed his belief in academic freedom, stating that such institutions should not be pressured by government officials on what to teach or say.
I believe in academic freedom, I think it's crucial for all of our institutions to be able to handle their own business the way they want to; and they should not be shaken down and told what to teach, what to say, by our government.
Despite those threats, Harvard refused to cave to the president's orders.
