Warriors' Steve Kerr addresses uncertain future with 1 year left on his contract
"I'm not the slightest bit concerned about it, and I don't think about it, Kerr said. I think it makes perfect sense, and I think that however it ends, it's going to be done in a really quality way. It's going to happen in the right way. If it's meant for me to keep going, I'm going to keep going, Kerr continued. If it's meant to be for the team to move on to somebody else, there will be nothing but gratitude and appreciation. This makes it easy for everybody. Let's just see where we are at the end of the year."
"These are short careers, and I want all our players to do well, Kerr said. How it gets there can be messy, but I'm not worried about any of that."
Steve Kerr enters the season in the final year of a contract signed in 2024 and expects any extension to be resolved after the season. Kerr expressed no concern about his future and framed any outcome with gratitude or appreciation, saying a decision will be reached in the right way. Free agents Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton remained unsigned but linked to the team through reports. Jonathan Kuminga ended restricted free agency by agreeing to a new multi-year contract, and Kerr emphasized that careers are short and he wants all players to succeed despite messy processes.
