For Jaipur Living's Weavers, Manchaha Is a Chance to Let Their Imaginations Run Free
Briefly

Kavi Chaudhary, design director at Jaipur Living, found inspiration in her childhood visits to Indian villages with her father. This experience led to the creation of Manchaha, allowing weavers to design their own rugs instead of following pre-made patterns. Initially intimidated by this freedom, artisans gradually embraced their creative potential with support from grassroots leaders. As they gained confidence, motifs reflecting their lives and stories began to emerge in their designs, linking personal experiences to their artistic expressions in a vibrant way.
It was very fascinating for me to see their original solutions to life, and how it was different from me, living in a larger town at that time.
When we launched, artisans were shocked, and they were like, 'We can create something on our own and still get paid for that?'
Then they would start putting their personal stories into it.
