A shooting occurred at Old Dominion University in which one person was killed and two others were wounded. The suspect, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Army National Guard member, was identified by authorities. Jalloh had previously pleaded guilty in 2016 to attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State and was released from federal custody in December 2024 after serving 11 years. The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism. ROTC students in a classroom subdued and killed the shooter, preventing further casualties. Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene at the university's business school building. The suspect shouted Allahu Akbar before opening fire.
