
Economics students attend public classes held on streets and squares in Buenos Aires and other Argentine cities. The federal university march on Tuesday will be the fourth protest against Milei’s higher-education “chainsaw” policies, with the main rally in Plaza de Mayo in front of the presidential palace. Since 2023, funding for the university system has fallen by 45.6%. The most urgent concern is the salary situation for teaching and non-teaching staff, alongside the need to update financial aid scholarships to prevent students from leaving their studies. Professors and employees have lost about a third of purchasing power, and unions report increasing resignations or additional jobs due to reduced income.
