Scott Woodward is no longer LSU's athletic director, announced Thursday night, days after LSU fired coach Brian Kelly following a 5-3 start. Verge Ausberry, the executive deputy athletic director, was named interim athletic director. LSU board chair Scott Ballard thanked Woodward for six years of service and emphasized moving the athletic department forward. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry publicly criticized Woodward and said Woodward would not hire the next football coach, citing problematic contracts. Woodward is expected to be paid more than $6 million remaining on his contract and wrote a letter expressing optimism and gratitude.
