The DanishNorwegian flagship Dannebroge was destroyed by the British Navy during the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801. The ship was bombarded, caught fire, and exploded, resulting in casualties among the crew. Excavations revealed ship timbers, cannon, and personal items, including a jawbone fragment of a missing crew member.
