Aimee Lou Wood spoke out against a parody of her character from The White Lotus aired on Saturday Night Live, describing it as "mean and unfunny." In the sketch titled "The White Potus," Wood's character was caricatured, which she felt was an unfair target compared to other characters. Although she clarified her feelings stemmed from her own insecurities, she appreciated clever humor but took issue with the portrayal. Wood later confirmed that SNL had issued her an apology for the portrayal, indicating the show's recognition of her concerns.
Wood later explained, “Nobody at HBO called me ugly!! I just spiraled about it because of my own imposter syndrome... I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny.”
While addressing the SNL portrayal, Wood said, "I actually love being taken the p*** out of when it's clever in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth."
