Richard Pryor's Warner albums to be reissued as 7xLP box set
Briefly

The new 7xLP box set titled "I Hope I'm Funny: The Warner Albums" compiles six iconic Richard Pryor comedy albums from 1974-1983, released by Rhino Records. Limited to 1,000 copies, the set includes Grammy-nominated works that showcase Pryor's influence on comedy, with most albums winning Grammys. Notably, 'Here and Now' captures Pryor's performance after years of sobriety. Liner notes by professor Scott Saul emphasize Pryor's lasting impact on comedy, with comedian Paul Rodriguez highlighting the pivotal shift in American comedy introduced by Pryor's work.
Each of these releases earned Pryor a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, and he took home awards for all but Wanted/Richard Pryor Live in Concert.
Scott Saul adds, 'The Age of Pryor has never ended. Across the six albums collected here, Pryor blew open what a comedian could do onstage, and it's the rare comedian who is not somehow in his debt.'
