""Punch Line San Francisco is the best club in the U.S.A!" Sure, we like to think that! However, those are the words of Dave Chappelle, who has played regularly at the Punch Line since the early nineties. To this day, he loves to perform at the club to work on new material and is known for his last-minute shows, which keeps his fans on their toes."
"It all started in 1978 when Punch Line San Francisco opened in what was originally a dressing room for The Old Waldorf, an adjacent rock club. Originally founded by Jonathan and Anne Fox along with Jeffrey and Patricia Pollack, the venue was sold to Bill Graham in 1980. With the help of House MC Bobby Slayton, the Punch Line quickly established itself as a premier comedy club for performers and audiences alike."
Punch Line Comedy Club in San Francisco will host Comedy Allstars from September 9–30, 2025 with multiple shows and tickets starting at $25.90 for general admission. The venue requires patrons to be 18 or older and enforces a two-drink minimum with valid ID. Doors open 45 minutes before each show and scheduled dates include September 9, 17, and 30 with featured performers and hosts. Punch Line was founded in 1978, later sold to Bill Graham, and grew under the influence of house MC Bobby Slayton. Many notable comedians have performed there early in their careers.
