During a 40th anniversary panel for 'The Breakfast Club' at C2E2, Emilio Estevez shared that he was high on painkillers when he first met his co-stars for a read-through. Estevez had just undergone an impacted wisdom tooth extraction and was forced by his agent to attend the session despite his swollen face and discomfort. He recalled fading out while watching a film that director John Hughes showed to the cast, leading to a humorous moment of concern about losing his role in the film.
"I woke up at the end credits, and I looked at Judd, and Judd says, 'I think you're getting fired.' And I believed it too."
"I said, 'Look, my face is swollen, I'm on pain pills, I'm bleeding out!' They said, 'No, no, no, it's important. You have to be there.'"
