French Film Follows Low-Poly Man Convinced He's In A Simulation
Le Vertige follows a man increasingly convinced his life is a simulation, while the audience sees he is inside a low-polygon PlayStation-style game. Alain Chabat plays Jacques in Full Phil, desperate to convince friends their lives are a low-key video game. The world is run like a ’90s CD-ROM, with blocky bodies resembling tank controls. Dupieux, formerly DJ Mr. Oizo, has made absurdist, often meta-fictional satires since early films, including 2010’s Rubber. Le Vertige is animated using Blender and mocks the push for realism in computer-generated imagery, especially amid AI-generated imagery.
