1,600 CISOs across 16 countries indicate rising anxiety about cyber threats and the need to balance innovation with security. Seventy-six percent feel at risk of a cyberattack in the next 12 months, and two-thirds experienced material data loss in the past year. Insider-related data loss is widespread, with 92% citing at least some loss to departing employees. Establishing genAI tool usage is a strategic priority for 64% of global CISOs, while 80% of U.S. CISOs worry about customer data exposure through public genAI platforms. More than half (58%) say their organizations are unprepared to respond, and 66% would consider paying ransomware to restore systems or prevent data leaks.
