Logitech leaks data after zero-day attack
"The continued suppression of a report identifying serious vulnerabilities of the U.S. telecommunications sector undermines the public's understanding of these threats and stymies an important public debate on a path forward,"
"We urge you to ensure the immediate public release ... and to call for the FCC to establish mandatory minimum cybersecurity standards for the communications sector."
The US Senate unanimously passed a resolution requiring CISA to publish a 2022 report on poor security in the telecommunications industry, but CISA has not delivered the document. Senators Ron Wyden and Mark Warner sent a letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem urging immediate public release and calling for the FCC to set mandatory minimum cybersecurity standards for the communications sector. The senators cited the Salt Typhoon hack of 2024 and a recent breach of a software and networking equipment provider to illustrate growing threats to telecom firms. Logitech also disclosed a zero-day attack that led to data exfiltration.
