"The following is a partial chronology of the numerous efforts to secure exposed shares containing state-level and county-level court records and prosecutors' files. While many files are public records, researchers discovered confidential and sealed records that were also being exposed. Many of the files involved juvenile court filings and records related to court cases. By now, the effort to secure the exposed shares has included three researchers, DataBreaches, Mandiant, one FBI agent,"
Software Unlimited Corp of Tupelo, Mississippi provides criminal and civil case management software for prosecutors. Multiple parties repeatedly alerted the vendor that client network shares and exposed files were publicly accessible on the internet. Exposed materials included state- and county-level court records, prosecutors' files, juvenile court filings, and some confidential and sealed court records. Efforts to secure the shares involved three researchers, Mandiant, an FBI agent, and an IT vendor assisting an affected county. The vendor failed to respond to alerts over months. Redacted examples of some exposed files exist. The vendor should secure exposed resources promptly to prevent harassment and privacy harms.
