Inotiv experienced a cybersecurity incident on August 8 that resulted in unauthorized access and encryption of certain internal systems. The company initiated containment and remediation processes after detection. A preliminary investigation determined a threat actor gained access and encrypted parts of the company’s systems, causing disruptions that are expected to continue affecting business operations. The incident prevented access to specific networks, internal data storage, and internal business applications. Inotiv notified the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission via a Form 8-K and is working to restore affected systems and services while assessing ongoing impacts.
"The company's preliminary investigation determined that a threat actor gained unauthorized access to, and encrypted certain of, the company's systems," Inotiv says.
"The cybersecurity incident has caused, and is expected to continue to cause, disruptions to certain business operations of the company," it continues.
According to Inotiv, the ransomware attack prevented it from accessing certain networks and systems, including parts of its internal data storage and internal business applications.
