Shohei Ohtani was struck in the thigh by a 93.7 mph line drive in the fourth inning but remained to finish pitching that inning and drew a walk in the fifth. He was replaced by Alex Call in the top of the eighth when his spot returned in the lineup after reporting growing stiffness and soreness. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani was "getting stiff," expected further stiffening, and moved from hopeful to confident about a Friday return. Ohtani said he feels pretty good, intends to return Friday, and will do everything to avoid lingering effects.
