Yamamoto allowed just two runs over 27 innings pitched while averaging 11.33 strikeouts per nine innings in his final four starts."

In September he made four starts with a 0.67 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, .081 opponents' batting average, nearly completed a no-hitter, and averaged 11.33 strikeouts per nine. He finished the regular season with at least 200 strikeouts and is scheduled to start Game 2 of the Wild Card Series.
