Dodgers relievers make franchise history with scoreless innings
The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen recorded 36 consecutive scoreless innings, setting a new franchise record. The streak began after Blake Treinen allowed the last run on May 12 against the San Francisco Giants. Alex Vesia tied the previous 33-inning mark in the sixth inning, Kyle Hurt broke it in the seventh, Tanner Scott extended it in the eighth, and Jonathan Hernádez finished the streak in the ninth. Twelve relievers combined for the scoreless appearances, with Edgardo Henriquez leading with 5.1 innings and Hurt following with five. The streak also included a bullpen game after Blake Snell was scratched, producing a complete game shutout against the Los Angeles Angels on May 15. Over 11 games, the bullpen produced two saves and the Dodgers won eight times.
"The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen set a new franchise record with 36 consecutive scoreless innings pitched from the relievers. The previous mark was set in 1998 when Dodgers relievers pitched 33 consecutive innings without allowing a run. Alex Vesia tied that record in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, and then Kyle Hurt broke the record in the seventh inning. Tanner Scott extended their streak in the eighth, and Jonathan Hernádez pushed it to 36 consecutive innings in the ninth to finish off the blowout win."
"The last Dodgers reliever to allow a run was Blake Treinen on May 12 during the seventh inning of a 6-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Since that point, the Dodgers have received scoreless appearances from 12 different relievers to combine for the 36 innings. Edgardo Henriquez leads the group with 5.1 innings pitched during that stretch, while Hurt follows with five innings pitched. Henriquez was also the pitcher who started the streak, entering the game after Treinen on May 12."
"Vesia checks in with 4.2 innings, Scott is just behind him at 4.1, and Treinen is the only other pitcher with more than two innings, coming in with 3.2. Hernádez, Charlie Barnes, Wyatt Mills, Will Klein, Jack Dreyer and Paul Gervase have each thrown two scoreless innings over the streak, and Chayce McDermott finishes off the list with one inning. The scoreless streak also includes a bullpen game after Blake Snell was scratched from his scheduled start, where the group combined to pitch a complete game shutout against the Los Angeles Angels on May 15."
