Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Won't Play in Thursday's Game vs Rockies
Briefly

Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to make his 10th start on Wednesday and will be given the following day off. The Dodgers will use Will Smith as the designated hitter for Thursday's series finale. Ohtani resumed two-way duties this season for the first time since 2023 and is producing strong results, recording a 3.47 ERA and a National League-leading 1.014 OPS. Ohtani has missed only two games this season, both for paternity leave in April. Eddie Rosario filled in during Ohtani's April absence. The Dodgers travel to San Diego after Thursday's game.
"I talked to him a little bit on the bench today," Roberts said after Tuesday's game. "He's going to leave it all out there tomorrow and he'll be down on Thursday."
"Ohtani is set to make his 10th start of the season on Wednesday. Ohtani's last three starts have come before an off-day for the Dodgers, but this time around, they play a series finale on Thursday. This is the first season since 2023 that Ohtani is taking on the two-way player workload. He is performing well in both areas, posting a 3.47 ERA and a National League leading 1.014 OPS."
"Ohtani has only missed two games this season. Both of his absences from the starting lineup were when he was on paternity leave for the birth of his daughter in April. Ohtani has always been the Dodgers' designated hitter, leading the team with 123 starts. When he was absent in April, outfielder Eddie Rosario filled in to mark his only two appearances with the team in 2025."
