Dodgers' Will Smith Exits Wednesday's Game vs Pirates With Apparent Hand Injury
"Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star catcher has exited Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an apparent hand injury. Smith took a foul ball off his hand in the bottom of the second inning. He was replaced by catcher Dalton Rushing as a pinch hitter in the top of the third. Smith got checked by a trainer in the dugout heading into the third inning. He was then ultimately removed from the game."
"Smith is in the midst of an All-Star season, hitting .296 with 17 home runs, 61 runs batted in and an OPS of .902. While he's been slumping over the last month, he was the hero for the Dodgers on Sunday, hitting a pinch-hit, walk-off home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks to salvage the series. It was his fourth career pinch-hit, walk-off home run, moving him into second place on the all-time list. Only Jason Giambi has more in MLB history."
