The Padres took a 2-1 lead in the third when Jake Cronenworth singled and Elías Díaz hit a two-run homer. Freeman tied the game with a sixth-inning homer, and Ohtani added a solo shot in the eighth for his 45th. Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed two runs over six innings with six strikeouts, and Nick Pivetta allowed two runs over six innings with seven strikeouts.

The Padres answered back to take the lead in the third inning, started by a one-out single from Jake Cronenworth. Elías Díaz followed with a two-run homer that put the Padres up 2-1. Freeman hit his first homer of the game to tie it at two in the sixth, and set up what proved to be a game-winning rally the next inning. Ohtani also slugged a solo home run in the eighth inning to make it an 8-2 game.
