Sources: Dodgers land prized free agent Kyle Tucker
"Jesse RogersJan 15, 2026, 09:55 PM ET CloseJesse joined ESPN Chicago in September 2009 and covers MLB for ESPN.com. The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers got even better Thursday night, landing prized free agent Kyle Tucker, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. Tucker, who turns 29 on Saturday, was the top free agent bat on the market. He'll join a star-studded Dodgers team -- which could be the perfect fit for the laidback Tucker."
"When healthy, Tucker is one of the best left-handed hitters in the league, but his last two seasons have been marred by injuries -- including a fractured right hand and a calf strain that suppressed his second-half numbers with the Chicago Cubs in 2025. Tucker was tendered a $22.025 million qualifying offer by the Cubs, which he declined by the Nov. 18 deadline."
Kyle Tucker, a 29-year-old standout left-handed hitter, has signed with the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, adding a premier bat to an already star-studded roster. Tucker has been among the game's best left-handed hitters when healthy, but his last two seasons were hampered by injuries, including a fractured right hand and a calf strain that diminished his second-half production with the Chicago Cubs in 2025. The Cubs had tendered Tucker a $22.025 million qualifying offer, which he declined by the Nov. 18 deadline. Because he signed elsewhere, Chicago will receive a compensatory selection after Competitive Balance Round B, roughly the 75th overall pick.
