Kendrick Lamar's recent performance in a coheadlining tour with SZA at Oracle Park highlighted the rapper's sustained relevance and creativity following his feud with Drake. The show, composed of nine acts integrating both artists' songs, was notable for its energy and unique production choices. Lamar, whose setlist featured fan favorites and debuted new material from his 'GNX' album, engaged the crowd with a mix of humor and barbed remarks aimed at his rap rival, emphasizing his continued prowess in the industry despite any legal controversies.
"I was just in my hometown, I gotta make sure I came to the Bay," Lamar said during his set, referencing their three nights performing last week in Los Angeles.
Instead of a traditional opener and closer, the production chose to weave the two artists' songs into nine acts. And, while it may have felt disjointed at times, the pair's Grand National Tour was nothing less than grand.
Lamar opened the show with his debut track off his 'GNX' album, 'wacced out murals.' The set started with a bang, featuring sparks and fire bursting from the stage.
Even with Drake's defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Lamar's diss track 'Not Like Us' hanging in the background, Lamar couldn't help but add a few more barbed attacks in the world-famous feud.
