Chef Keith Corbin Hits Reset at Alta in West Adams
"With COVID, the strikes, and fires, we were just about survival. All of these things were holding us back from evolving. If I had to pick the perfect time to get back to cooking and creating, this is it. We needed to do it now."
"I realized that I wanted to tell a different story. The historic West Adams building offers 13 bar seats, a chef's counter, open kitchen, two separate dining spaces, a wine shop, a cafe, and a back patio, becoming a hotspot in the neighborhood and South Los Angeles."
Chef Keith Corbin has temporarily halted dine-in service at his West Adams restaurant Alta to undergo a recalibration period, continuing catering and private events while developing a fresh menu and redesigning the interior. Corbin became sole owner in 2025 after opening the restaurant with Daniel Patterson in 2018. The pause stems from recent transformative experiences, including his first European visit and collaborations with other chefs, which inspired him to pursue a new creative direction. Corbin describes the closure as a reset rather than a permanent shutdown, stating there is no set reopening date. He emphasizes that past challenges including COVID, labor strikes, and fires kept the restaurant in survival mode, preventing the evolution he now seeks to achieve.
