Holy Smokeshow, Sweet Auburn BBQ Gathers Star-Studded Chefs For a Tasting Event
Briefly

Howard Hsu, owner of Sweet Auburn BBQ, is hosting the Good Luck Smokeshow event on May 14, celebrating Asian American dishes with renowned chefs from Atlanta and beyond. This one-night tasting will feature an impressive lineup of chefs, live entertainment, and cultural activities like lion dances and martial arts demos. Tickets are $125, with proceeds supporting Asian American Voices for Education. Hsu emphasizes the importance of food as a cultural bridge, drawing from his background in a restaurant family to foster inclusivity through shared culinary experiences.
"There will be smoke, there will be fire," says Hsu. "It's like a music festival. You've got the greatest bands, the greatest hits, and it's all in the same venue. Why not get them together for AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) month? Let's party. Let's hang."
"As a kid you don't realize what a hospitable environment you can have when you bring people together from different cultures, break bread, and share stories," says Hsu who grew up in a restaurant-running family.
