First new-build hotel in over 15 years opens near Joshua Tree National Park
Briefly

Reset Hotel opened on July 21, providing 65 lodging options for visitors of Joshua Tree National Park. Located on 180 acres near the park's north entrance, prices average around $250 per night. Local designer Benjamin Uyeda praises the north entrance for its unique landscape. The area of Twentynine Palms, quieter than nearby towns, has gained popularity due to the significant increase in park visitation, which doubled in the past decade. This surge has intensified the demand for lodging, leading to many homes becoming short-term rentals, causing concern among locals for housing availability.
"As a Joshua Tree local, we all know the best entrance is the Twentynine Palms entrance. ... It's the part of the park that looks the most like it's a different planet," said Benjamin Uyeda, a co-founder and designer of the hotel who has lived in the area since 2017.
Overall visitation at the national park has approximately doubled over the past decade, surpassing 3 million visitors for the first time in 2021.
